Spartanburg County, S.C.—A football player from Byrnes (Spartanburg, S.C.) High School has drowned while swimming in Lake Lyman.
Dive teams recovered the body of 16-year-old Markell Tyquann Nesbitt, 16, late Monday, according to WSPA-TV.
Authorities say Nesbitt was out swimming with a group of friends when he went under the water and never resurfaced. The accident happened while the teens were hanging out on a dock near a private home.

A friend of Nesbitt told WSPA that he was a rising junior and wide receiver for the Rebels football team.
The school district said counselors were being sent to the football team’s training facility to help his fellow teammates and other students cope with what happened.
